| Youth
for Unity & Voluntary Action –
YUVA: was founded in 1984 as a voluntary
development organization, with a central
goal to intervene for social justice.
Its engagement of the twenty years is
derived from the paradigm of Human Rights.
The foundation of engagement lies in
defending, promoting, restoring and
creating the civil, political, social,
economic and cultural rights of the
poor, at the levels of both the |

|
and the collective. The ambit of our
intervention spans the relationship
between the three fundamental and integral
themes of Poverty, Environment and Governance.
YUVA is accredited as an NGO (Non-Governmental
Organization) with General Consultative
Status with the United Nations Economic
and Social Council (ECOSOC). |

Today,
YUVA consists of five independent
units based on core competencies with
flexible structures. These five legally
entities are - YUVA Urban, YUVA Rural,
YUVA Consulting, CYBC (Cidco YUVA
Building Centre) and YUVA Bank. While
the first four are already operational,
the formation of YUVA Bank is in the
pipeline. A common history and adherence
to the core values of YUVA viz. social
justice, |
|
gender justice, democracy and secularism,
honesty and integrity, and environmental
sustainability represent the single
most important point of unity amongst
the different entities. ^Top |

and capacity building have been a crucial
component of YUVA’s interventions.
The culmination of experiences in strengthening

led to the formation of the YUVA Centre.
