in 1954, Prajapati Sahakari Utpadak
Mandal Limited (PSUM) is a community
based cooperative society in Kumbharwada.
The cooperative society ensures affordable
and regular supply of raw material for
the pottery cluster. It engages in liaisoning
with different units to procure raw
material (discarded cotton, rise husk,
wood dust and rags) for baking pottery
products, establishing contacts with
external agencies based in fringes and
rural |

areas to procure good quality earth
and buying other raw materials in bulk.

| In the
last years PSUM has developed good network
with many agencies outside Mumbai to
procure raw material of desired quantity
to meet the growing needs of community.
It has gained credentials in the market
due to its continuous up gradation of
skills and diversifying products to
cater the needs of larger customers
all over the globe. PSUM has also taken
keen interest in working on the welfare
needs of community. Prajapati Samaj
Kalyan Kendra (Prajapati Social Welfare
Centre) is a centre dedicated to this
cause. The Centre has been running a
Baalwadi since more than 30 years. Presently
there are 27 children benefiting from
this Baalwadi. In order to improve health
conditions, the Centre provides mid-day
meal to children. The cost of this programme
is taken care by PSUM. Besides this,
it also engages in organizing cultural
and sports activities, arranging medical
and health camps and assisting in implementing
government schemes in Kumbharwada.The
Cooperative Society arranges regular
meetings with office bearers as well
as other shareholders. |
